Dr. Vijay Verma apart from being an able administrator had a deep interest in literature, lok sanskriti, music, architecture and photography.
He extensively traveled across India, researching folk music, art and temple architecture, and published several works. He visited innumerable folk artistes in remote villages, interviewing them and recording their music. He built a rare collection of authentic music recordings spanning over 6000 hours and a collection of folk art. In fact, he played a very important role in getting recognition for folk artistes outside Rajasthan.
He was deeply interested in old temple architecture and sought to illustrate temple architecture through his many photographs and writings. He photographed nearly all of major Indian temples and wrote about the various architectural styles.
Dr. Vijay Verma also had an interest in old film music of India and is the author of a highly acclaimed book titled "Meel Ke Patthar".
He made invaluable contributions in preserving and promoting folk art of Rajasthan. An avid reader, he amassed a library of some 15000 rare books which are freely available to serious research scholars.
